My Second Trimester of Pregnancy

Well, this week is the fourth week of my third trimester! Exciting times! So, I thought I would write a reflection of my experience going through my second trimester of pregnancy, that is, weeks 13 to 27 – the longest trimester of the three. Some changes and occurrences were expected and some were not! Pregnancy really is so different for every single woman and every single baby.

The first trimester morning sickness may not stop immediately

I threw up a few times in the early weeks of my second trimester. It was interesting because

Comparison of Non-toxic Cookware

Non toxic cookware

Over the last couple of years, I’ve become aware of the negative affects of using toxic cookware. Unfortunately, a lot of the cookware given to me for my wedding four years ago was toxic, so I’ve slowly been replacing one thing at a time as it wears out. I’ve been researching the different types of non-toxic cookware, so  I though I would share about it all in a post to hopefully to help people who, like me, are hoping to replace their toxic cookware.

Preparing for a Healthy Conception

Hello everyone! Sorry that it’s been so many weeks since I last wrote a post! To be honest, I’ve been a little unmotivated recently.

I have been quite tired, even though I’m in my second trimester, which I thought was when you are supposed to have great energy levels!? I guess everyone’s different. The heat has really been taking it out of me, too. I never realised being pregnant makes you so hot all the time! (Note to self: Next time, try not to be pregnant over summer!)

Also, when I do

Healthy Spring Rolls

Spring rolls are such a light, healthy and fresh lunch or dinner. I used to be daunted at the thought of making them, thinking they would be too time-consuming and fiddly. They’re actually quite simple and don’t require much effort. I absolutely love eating them, so that’s strong motivation to take the time to make them, too! This recipe makes four serves so I love to make them up at dinner time and have the leftovers for lunch the next day.

Second Trimester Exercise Program-2

I have been enjoying being able to exercise regularly throughout my second trimester. It has really made a difference in stabilising my mood, keeping my energy levels up, keeping me healthy and preventing excessive weight gain. Currently, my workout routine is this:

  • Monday – Yoga
  • Tuesday – Full Body Circuit
  • Wednesday – 30 minute walk
  • Thursday – Weights and HIIT
  • Friday – Weights and HIIT
  • Saturday – 30  minute walk
  • Sunday – 30 minute walk

My Top Healthy Eats in Perth & Surrounds

I’ve realised after doing a lot of travelling overseas that we’re quite lucky to have so many healthy options for eating out in Perth. It is rare to find a cafe that doesn’t have any fresh juices, smoothies and a few raw treats available, therefore, I had to be quite ruthless with this list. It contains only the cafes that I think strive to offer the majority of items on their menu as ‘healthy’, rather than just having a small selection.

Price for breakfast: $10.50 – $23
Price for a smoothie: $10

Unfortunately, one of the food aversions I have developed since being pregnant is salads. I really don’t find them appealing at the moment! So, I have been trying to find ways to make salad more exciting so I can get some antioxidant and vitamin rich vegetables into me (and my baby)! My sister recently told me about a delicious salad she had at a cafe so I tried to recreate it and it turned out pretty tasty!

My Experience Transferring From the Pill to Natural Contraception

Transferring from the pill to natural contraception

This is a topic which is quite personal, but I feel I just have to share because there is so little information about it and it is rarely talked about.

Interestingly, the oral contraceptive pill (I will just refer to it for the remainder of this article as ‘the pill’ for ease of reading) is the number one prescribed drug worldwide. People are starting to talk and write about why you should stop the pill if you are using it to ‘treat’ problems such as heavy periods, acne,

Second Trimester Pregnancy Exercise Program

I thought I would share with you all the exercise program I am about to start. I will be fifteen weeks pregnant on Monday when I begin, and I will complete it for four to five weeks. My fitness had dropped quite a lot over the course of the first trimester. Finding time to train when I wasn’t at work, exhausted or feeling nauseous or headachey was hard! Anyway, I am now loving being able to exercise more often each week. I really find healthy eating and regular exercise makes a massive difference to the
