smashed avocado and poached eggs on toast

I absolutely love eating breakfast out at different cafes. I think breakfast foods are the tastiest! Having them cooked for you and served with a lovely flat white is such an indulgent way to start the weekend. It’s hard to not have a bad day after a start like that; however, I often think, ‘I could easily recreate something like this at home for a quarter of the price’. If you’re like me and have found yourself thinking the same thing, here’s a recipe

Turkey Chilli Con Carne

I’ve now been home from my North America holiday for three weeks and if there’s one thing I miss it’s Chilli Con Carne! It was available everywhere in Canada and America! This recipe is how I like to make my turkey version of Chilli Con Carni. I love to make it for dinner served with lots of steamed veggies. The leftovers are delicious for lunch the next day. It’s a lovely hot comfort food, perfect for us Aussies who are right now in the heart of winter.

3 Sides For Your Bacon and Eggs

My hubby and I love our tradition of bacon and eggs every weekend. It’s such a satisfying filling breakfast. We usually have our bacon and eggs with one of these sides, plus sometimes a green smoothie. These sides are way more nutrient-packed than a slice of bread and a lot tastier too!

Side 1) Kale torn into small pieces, sliced mushrooms and cherry tomatoes sautéed for 5 minutes over medium heat in butter. Top with himalayan salt.

One of the things I get asked most often by people who are wanting to get a little healthier or lose weight is for snack ideas. Much to my husband’s amusement, I need to snack! He was always a three-large-meals-a-day type of person, so he finds it funny that I have to pack snacks before we go out anywhere, and how I suggest we stop for morning tea whenever we’re out sightseeing. Personally, I find that if I have morning and afternoon tea I can avoid getting to

Healthy Homemade Granola (thermomix recipe)

homemade healthy granola

Every healthy foodie has got their signature way of doing homemade granola, so I thought it was about time I shared mine! I love to eat granola with Greek yoghurt and either a grated apple, sliced banana or berries. I tend to find it’s not as filling as having eggs for breakfast but it’s a nice change when you feel like something different, and fantastic to bring when going on holidays where you won’t have the facilities to make a cooked breakfast.

My diet has progressed from me having no idea what I was doing in my teens, to being overly strict in my early-twenties, to now in my mid-twenties being a little more relaxed. I now understand that being overly-obsessive with your diet can cause guilt, anxiety and affect your social life, which is just as detrimental to your health and well-being as a bad diet.

I have also learnt that being a food perfectionist is unnecessary to reach my goals. In my experience, you can

Energy dense weight gain smoothie

This smoothie was made with love for my lovely friend,  Christina. She is a hard-working Mum with three active children under five. Due to her busy lifestyle and health issues, she’s been struggling to gain weight for some time now. This smoothie is relatively high in calories, so would be suitable for

I had my first Reece’s Peanut Butter Cup when travelling around America in 2012. It was love at first taste! This healthy version tastes just as yummy as the original, but they are actually good for you! Plus, like anything I make in the kitchen, they are very simple and quick! Due to the high fat content, they are a bit

Overnight Proats

proats

If you still haven’t heard of ‘proats’, let me fill you in. Basically, proats are where you combine oats with protein powder and an endless combination of other delicious and nutrient-packed goodies. Instead of cooking your oats like you would in making porridge, you just soak them in the fridge for at least an hour, or overnight, hence the
