I’ve realised after doing a lot of travelling overseas that we’re quite lucky to have so many healthy options for eating out in Perth. It is rare to find a cafe that doesn’t have any fresh juices, smoothies and a few raw treats available, therefore, I had to be quite ruthless with this list. It contains only the cafes that I think strive to offer the majority of items on their menu as ‘healthy’, rather than just having a small selection.

What I thought

This is a wholefood cookbook for use with the Thermomix. As far as I know, it is the best Thermomix cookbook for people with allergies. I am gluten intolerant and my sister is dairy intolerant, so whenever I need to make something to suit both of us I head straight to this book. Something I love about Quirky Cooking is that every recipe I make tastes delicious! It’s not just healthy food that tastes ok, it’s full of flavour! A common complaint with Thermomix cooking in general is that

Blueberrry Pie Smoothie
This is a delicious, decadent smoothie which makes a filling and satisfying snack or breakfast.

Serves 1

Ingredients

Smoothie:
200ml water
1 handful ice
1 heaped tablespoon coconut cream
1 large / 90g frozen banana, broken into chunks
1/2 cup / 65g frozen blueberries
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon maca (optional)
1 teaspoon chia seeds

Toppings:
1 teaspoon coconut flakes
cinnamon
4 pecans, chopped

I love chocolate! It’s definitely my favourite sweet food, so I’ve tried a lot of different chocolate cake recipes!  Here are my favourite three. Enjoy!

What I like about it? It tastes amazing and is so easy! I can’t imagine how it could be any easier or quicker to make a cake from scratch. I always serve it without icing, but with cashew cream (see the link on the recipe page).
