What I thought

This is a wholefood cookbook for use with the Thermomix. As far as I know, it is the best Thermomix cookbook for people with allergies. I am gluten intolerant and my sister is dairy intolerant, so whenever I need to make something to suit both of us I head straight to this book. Something I love about Quirky Cooking is that every recipe I make tastes delicious! It’s not just healthy food that tastes ok, it’s full of flavour! A common complaint with Thermomix cooking in general is that

Steamed Vegetables with Herb & Garlic Butter

2017-07-10T19:28:37+00:00 1 October 2015|Categories: EAT|Tags: , , , , , , |

Steamed Vegetables with Herb and garlic butter

This dressing really makes the steamed vegetables taste super tasty. It is inspired by a  freezer meal I got from a supermarket in Jasper, Canada. I thought, ‘this combination of flavours is yum! I must try recreate this when I get home’ (minus all the preservatives and artificial flavourings!) The herbed butter has quiet a strong salty flavour so make sure you toss it through your steamed veggies thoroughly so it is well distributed. When my husband tried it for the first time he enthusiastically exclaimed

5 Easy Healthy Dinners to Make When Travelling

clothes-travel-voyage-backpackWhen travelling, my husband and I try to always book accommodation with a kitchen. We really enjoy cooking a majority of the meals ourselves rather than eating out all the time for several reasons. Firstly, it saves a lot of money. I’d rather spend that money on clothes and activities to be honest. Secondly, I like to be in control of what I’m eating so I know it’s healthy, not cooked in inflammatory vegetable oils, and is gluten free. Thirdly, after a big day filled with adventures, we often don’t feel like heading out

smashed avocado and poached eggs on toast

I absolutely love eating breakfast out at different cafes. I think breakfast foods are the tastiest! Having them cooked for you and served with a lovely flat white is such an indulgent way to start the weekend. It’s hard to not have a bad day after a start like that; however, I often think, ‘I could easily recreate something like this at home for a quarter of the price’. If you’re like me and have found yourself thinking the same thing, here’s a recipe I created

Homemade Popcorn

Homemade healthy popcorn Two of life’s simple pleasures: fresh popcorn and mountain views.

This has got to be one of the easiest things you could possibly make in the kitchen! I love to make homemade popcorn to take to the movies. Corn is a grain, so I recommend you eat it only occasionally as it’s not as nutrient-dense as others foods like vegetables, fruit, meat, nuts etc.

Turkey Chilli Con Carne

Turkey Chilli Con Carne

I’ve now been home from my North America holiday for three weeks and if there’s one thing I miss it’s Chilli Con Carne! It was available everywhere in Canada and America! This recipe is how I like to make my turkey version of Chilli Con Carni. I love to make it for dinner served with lots of steamed veggies. The leftovers are delicious for lunch the next day. It’s a lovely hot comfort food, perfect for us Aussies who are right now in the heart of winter.

3 Sides For Your Bacon and Eggs

2015-07-09T12:00:38+00:00 9 July 2015|Categories: EAT|Tags: , , , , |

My hubby and I love our tradition of bacon and eggs every weekend. It’s such a satisfying filling breakfast. We usually have our bacon and eggs with one of these sides, plus sometimes a green smoothie. These sides are way more nutrient-packed than a slice of bread and a lot tastier too!

Side 1) Kale torn into small pieces, sliced mushrooms and cherry tomatoes sautéed for 5 minutes over medium heat in butter. Top with himalayan salt.
