This is a delicious and nutritious snack I really look forward to. I love how low calorie this is yet so satisfying and filling. When I first came up with this winning combo, I ate it every single day at work for three weeks straight! I also ate it a lot in the weeks leading up to my bikini competition as it kept me full despite being in a calorie deficit.

My Top Healthy Eats in Perth & Surrounds

I’ve realised after doing a lot of travelling overseas that we’re quite lucky to have so many healthy options for eating out in Perth. It is rare to find a cafe that doesn’t have any fresh juices, smoothies and a few raw treats available, therefore, I had to be quite ruthless with this list. It contains only the cafes that I think strive to offer the majority of items on their menu as ‘healthy’, rather than just having a small selection.

smashed avocado and poached eggs on toast

I absolutely love eating breakfast out at different cafes. I think breakfast foods are the tastiest! Having them cooked for you and served with a lovely flat white is such an indulgent way to start the weekend. It’s hard to not have a bad day after a start like that; however, I often think, ‘I could easily recreate something like this at home for a quarter of the price’. If you’re like me and have found yourself thinking the same thing, here’s a recipe I created

Homemade healthy popcorn Two of life’s simple pleasures: fresh popcorn and mountain views.

This has got to be one of the easiest things you could possibly make in the kitchen! I love to make homemade popcorn to take to the movies. Corn is a grain, so I recommend you eat it only occasionally as it’s not as nutrient-dense as others foods like vegetables, fruit, meat, nuts etc.

One of the things I get asked most often by people who are wanting to get a little healthier or lose weight is for snack ideas. Much to my husband’s amusement, I need to snack! He was always a three-large-meals-a-day type of person, so he finds it funny that I have to pack snacks before we go out anywhere, and how I suggest we stop for morning tea whenever we’re out sightseeing. Personally, I find that if I have morning and afternoon tea I can avoid getting to the point

That Sugar Film Review

Recently I went to see this very successful Australian documentary with one of my health-enthusiast friends. I found it engaging, playful, eye-opening, well-made and thought-provoking. The film is directed by and stars Damon Gameau. Damon is an Australian director and actor. After the film, Damon himself was available for a Q&A session which was very interesting and exciting to a

I had my first Reece’s Peanut Butter Cup when travelling around America in 2012. It was love at first taste! This healthy version tastes just as yummy as the original, but they are actually good for you! Plus, like anything I make in the kitchen, they are very simple and quick! Due to the high fat content, they are a bit of a

I usually have this for breakfast once a week. You can substitute the fruit for whatever is in season and get creative with your toppings! Chia pudding is a great balance of carbohydrates, protein, fats and vitamins. It will give you a great start to your day and keep you full for many hours.
